Top 3 Skincare Mistakes That Make You Look Older

Sure, we all know that beauty is skin deep. And yeah, there’s no arguing that we should value what’s on the inside more than our appearance. But let’s be real here: We all want to look our best, right? There’s no shame in wanting to feel vibrant, glowing, and youthful. And so, with that sentiment in mind, we want to share with you the top three skincare mistakes that could be making you look older.

They’re all easy to fix, don’t require any major changes, and are guaranteed to help get you closer to that youthful glow that you crave. Plus, we’ll recommend some products to you to help fast-track you to more youthful skin.

Let’s tap into the fountain of youth with some skincare, shall we?

  • Be conservative on makeup

  • Oftentimes, if you find that you have skin concerns that you’re self-conscious of, you cover them up. And yes, this absolutely applies to fine lines and wrinkles. Trust us, while it might feel like a good idea to hide your wrinkles with your favorite foundation, when you do this, you only make the situation worse.

Excess makeup settles into fine lines, highlighting wrinkles, making you look older. Instead, we recommend using foundation only where you really need it, or even better, opt for a light tinted moisturizer to help even out your skin tone. Anything higher-coverage than that, and you’re probably making yourself look older. Not ideal.

  • Are you consistent with your skincare routine?

  • Some nights you’re just so tired, you skip cleansing. Or maybe every month or so you take the time to apply a mask…

Generally, though, you complete your skincare routine when you have the time, and you’re not disciplined with it.

Uh oh, big mistake. In the moment it might feel harmless to skip out on your routine a couple of nights a week, but quite honestly, it’s not, especially when we’re talking about aging skin.

If you want that youthful glow, you NEED to dedicate yourself to your skincare routine. No ifs, ands, or buts. Every morning and every night, at the very least, cleanse and moisturize. Also, don’t forget, masks, exfoliators, and serums are also extremely important for youthful skin.

    In fact, speaking of serums...

  • You’re skipping out on a quality moisturizer // you’re not using serums

  • When it comes to aging skin, hydration is paramount.

If your skin is dry, you’re almost guaranteed to look older. And so, that being said, if you’re simply using some basic moisturizer you picked up at the drugstore, you’re not doing your skin any favors. You need to stock up on a high-quality moisturizer that specifically targets aging skin with extra hydrating ingredients. For instance, our  Creme D’or Daily Renewal Creme is a great example. Featuring hyaluronic acid (a must-have ingredient for aging skin) this cream quickly and easily delivers that youthful glow that you’ve been seeking.

In addition, in a similar vein, a high-quality serum is just as important, if not more important than a moisturizer. Serums are able to penetrate the skin even deeper than a moisturizer, delivering targeted hydration to dull skin. Not to mention, there are plenty of serums available that are specifically formulated to help with anti-aging. Our  AMETHYST Hyaluronic Acid Serumis the perfect example of this.

    To sum up...

While these mistakes might feel fairly basic, don’t discount the importance of consistency, high-quality products, and more focus on skin and less on makeup.
